The Department of Botany was established in 1968, initially offering Pre-University courses and later serving as a subsidiary for the B.Sc. Zoology programme. In 2020, the B.Sc. Botany programme was introduced with Zoology and Chemistry as complementary subjects. From 2024 onwards, the department offers the B.Sc. Botany Honours degree under the FYUGP programme.
