A strong alumni association is functioning in the department from 2001 onwards.

Though the students frequently had contacts with the department, until 2001, the alumni association was not functioning as an organised body

Most of the alumni, who are well placed and actively involved in research oriented studies in earth science used to visit the department frequently and share their experience with students in the form of seminars and talks

Alumni are contributing financial assistance for the over all development of the department and also offered assistance to the poor students.
